What is P-TECH?
Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) are innovative open-enrollment high schools that allow students least likely to attend college an opportunity to earn a high school diploma, industry-based certifications, Level 1 or 2 certificates, and/or an associate degree while engaging in work-based learning at every grade level. P-TECH Business Partnerships
In keeping with the commitment made by the business partners, they will directly support and engage in the P-TECH program by providing mentoring or coaching for students; sponsors to receive mentorship opportunities throughout the P-TECH program course sequences; provide guest speakers that can assist in making connections between business and the P-TECH pathway coursework. Additionally, these business partners will give P-TECH graduates strong considerations for hiring when openings are available in the future.
The Workforce Solutions partner supports and engages directly with the P-TECH program by providing job readiness training for students prior to mentorship or internship placements; provide exposure to job demand, wage data, and potential employers; provide job-shadowing opportunities for students to support classroom instruction.
P-TECH Higher Education Partnerships
P-TECH will provide students an opportunity to earn both high school and college credits, at no cost to the students, through local colleges such as the Texas State Technical College (TSTC) and the Texas Southmost College (TSC). P-TECH course instruction will be available from the Pace home campus as online instruction or through credentialed Pace classroom teachers.
Through the TSTC partnership, Pace students will be offered the Cybersecurity program 100% online. The P-TECH Cybersecurity program provides certifying opportunities in Cybersecurity Operations Fundamentals at the high school level. Through TSTC, students will have the opportunity to certify in Cybersecurity Level 1 & 2 certificates and earn the Cybersecurity technical associate degree.
With the TSC partner, P-TECH Healthcare students participating in the program may receive EKG certification, college credit only, or both high school and college credit, as determined by the policy of Pace ECHS. College credit earned upon successful completion of Dual Enrollment courses may be applied towards an Associate Degree at TSC or may transfer to other colleges and universities.
